- Fraunhofer IAIS, Dr. Joachim Köhler
Objectives
- Analysis of the current state of the art in the area of multimedia indexing and retrieval technologies
- Definition of a future roadmap for new research activities
In the first year of the Chorus project a state of the art report of the following research fields will be generated:
- Image Retrieval
- Video Retrieval
- 3D Retrieval
- Speech Retrieval
- Audio/Music Retrieval
- Text Retrieval
- Fused Media Retrieval
For each of the research fields the following information should be pointed out:
- definition of the research challenges
- feature processing algorithms
- classification algorithms
- test/evaluation data/task
- overview about existing systems and research prototypes
For the development of the SOA report and the roadmap definition the existing European and national projects on Audio-visual search technology are evaluated and analysed.
Activities:
- Definition and collection of a questionnaire to receive input from the 9 IST projects (Pharos, Vitalas, …)
- Evaluation of the questionnaires to get an overview about the activities in the area of multimedia indexing
- Contribute to the deliverable 2.1 “First report that establish an up-to-date multi-technological state of the art in the field of Search Engines for Multimedia content) regarding the technology area of multimedia indexing and retrieval technologies
