CHORUS CLUSTER

The cluster is the core of the CHORUS activity and groups all the interested stakeholders in the field of multimedia search. It includes the IST projects working in this area, but also national initiatives, organisations interested to participate.

The main activities of the cluster are:

  • Inter-project / organisations exchange
  • Roadmap activities in the technical and non technical areas related to multimedia search (contribution to CHORUS roadmaps)
  • Contribution to CHORUS think-tank activities
  • Dissemination and promotion activities (workshop, conferences, summer school,..)

Let us recall that the different areas are:

  • Audio-visual content indexing and retrieval technologies.
  • Technical issues related to content description, summarization and scalability
  • Evaluation, benchmarking and standards: Establish a synthesis of the numerous initiatives and identify the “missing link”
  • Mobility, P2P, Heterogeneity: Technical issues related to media distribution (QoS,bandwidth, services, …)
  • Interoperability of DRM: focus on the bottleneck of heterogeneity of DRM and target to provide synthetic view with recommendations
  • Socio-economic and legal aspects: Study of social implications, user's technology acceptance, expected economic impact, and legal issues
  • User interaction and group behavior: human-machine interaction from the machine learning side and from the psychological side as well
  • Use-Cases and New services
    • Market needs prospecting,
    • Usage scenarios in relation with content providers,
    • Identification of list killer applications in different sectors (not only large public)
